Gift Card Terms of Sale

By purchasing eGift Cards and/or the HandyGifts Smart Card, you agree to these Terms of Sale, together with our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not make a purchase.
1. About these terms
HandyGifts lets you buy, send, redeem, manage, and store eGift Cards and HandyGifts Smart Cards through our website and app (together, the “Services”). eGift Cards are issued by the participating merchants (“Retailers”); payments are processed by HandyPay, our PCI-compliant payment processor. We may change these Terms at any time; the version in effect at the time of your purchase applies, so please review them each time you buy.
2. Availability and pricing
A range of non-reloadable eGift Cards from participating Jamaican retailers is offered through our Services. All cards are subject to availability. We may limit quantities on any order, reject all or part of an order, and discontinue products without notice, even after you have placed an order.
All prices are in Jamaican dollars (JMD) and may change without notice. The price charged is the price shown at the time of your order. Unless a Retailer sets different limits:
- the minimum value of an eGift Card is J$500;
- the maximum value of a single eGift Card is J$50,000; and
- the total value you may purchase across all cards in a single day is J$1,000,000.
eGift Cards are intended for use within Jamaica and may be sent to recipients elsewhere. Each card is also subject to the issuing Retailer’s own terms and conditions, in addition to these Terms.
3. eGift Cards and the HandyGifts Smart Card
From time to time we may run promotions; the applicable rules will be posted near the offer, and we may interpret or cancel them at our discretion. Any expiry date is shown on the card in your HandyGifts wallet or in the Retailer’s terms; redeem your card within that period, as we are not responsible for cards left unredeemed past expiry.
Each card you buy appears as a separate card in your wallet (two cards from the same Retailer show as two cards, not one). The HandyGifts Smart Cardholds a non-reloadable value that can be swapped for another Retailer’s eGift Card of the same amount available through our Services. Unless required by law, cards are not redeemable for cash and no refunds are provided.
4. Activation
eGift Cards are activated at the time of purchase and are usually available within about 30 seconds, though some activations take longer and are subject to each Retailer’s terms. In rare cases activation can take up to 24 hours. If your card is not active within five minutes, email support@handygifts.comand we’ll help.
5. Fees
A processing fee of 4.9% + US$0.40 applies per transaction. The issuing merchant may pass this to you as a convenience fee at checkout, or choose to absorb or split it. Merchants on the optional Pro plan (US$20/month) receive a reduced rate of 3.7% + US$0.40 per transaction. Any fee payable by you is shown before you pay.
6. Payment
Accepted payment methods include approved debit and credit cards (for example Visa, Mastercard, and American Express) and Apple Pay; available methods may change without notice. Cards cannot be bought with cash. Unless stated otherwise, your purchase is billed in full when the eGift Card is bought. Payments are handled by HandyPay, our PCI-compliant processor; we do not store your full card details. If your payment cannot be verified, your order may be suspended or cancelled.
Why might I see an extra J$1 on my statement? When you save a card to charge later, the processor may ask your bank for a J$0 or J$1 authorization to confirm the card is valid. Any such amount is reversed immediately. It is not a charge and will drop off your statement, anywhere from a few minutes to a few weeks depending on your bank.
7. Cancellations and returns
Please choose carefully: we do not offer exchanges or refunds on eGift Cards. We are not responsible for refunding the purchase price or returning any products bought from a Retailer with a gift card. See our Refund Policy for more.
8. Lost or stolen cards
Safeguard your card; it has value. Cards that are lost, stolen, or used without authorization will not be replaced or refunded. If you lose your device, contact us immediately so we can try to place a hold on your account. If someone redeems your card without authorization while your device is lost or stolen, HandyGifts is not liable.
9. Retailer terms and liability
eGift Cards are issued by participating Retailers, and your purchase is governed by their terms in addition to these Terms. Retailers may set expiry dates and other restrictions; please review them before buying. As the issuers, Retailers (not HandyGifts) are fully responsible for their eGift Card programs and for products and services they provide. We have no obligation to resolve disputes between you and a Retailer, and we are not liable if a Retailer discontinues its cards or is unable or unwilling to redeem your card (including due to insolvency or closure). By purchasing, you release HandyGifts and its affiliates from liabilities arising from a Retailer’s acts or omissions.
10. Accuracy and your responsibility
We try to be accurate, but errors can occur and we do not warrant that every description, card, Retailer, or price shown is accurate, complete, or current. Where an error is caused by us, we will try to correct it quickly and adjust your order accordingly.
11. Excluded users and territories
You may not purchase from HandyGifts if you are located in, controlled by, or a national or resident of any country to which Jamaica has embargoed goods or services.
12. Governing law
Any claim relating to HandyGifts is governed by the laws of Jamaica, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
